About the Service

If you've experienced a home-dye disaster, had an uneven colour application elsewhere, or want to make a dramatic colour transition (such as dark box dye to clean blonde), our specialist Colour Correction service at Hair In The City Glasgow is here to help. Led by our Salon Director Louise Wilson—a former educator in professional hair colour chemistry—we specialise in repairing complex hair colour issues. We restore your hair’s health, neutralise brassiness or green tones, and reconstruct a beautiful, rich shade you can be proud of.

What to Expect: The Process

1

Step 1

Mandatory Colour & Structure Consultation: We assess your hair’s history, perform strength and elasticity tests, and use test strands to see how your hair responds to lift. We provide a clear plan, timeframe, and cost estimate.

2

Step 2

Colour Extraction or De-colourising: We carefully remove artificial colour pigments or blockages from previous home dyes or uneven treatments using gentle colour reducers or lifting agents.

3

Step 3

Internal Bond Reinforcement: Throughout the lifting phase, we mix Keune Bond Fusion Phase 1 into all lighteners and extractors to rebuild broken disulphide bonds and protect the hair's structural integrity.

4

Step 4

Neutralisation & Shading: We apply targeted colour correcting washes or pigments to neutralise unwanted tones (red, orange, or green undertones) and bring your hair back to a clean, workable canvas.

5

Step 5

Re-pigmenting & Target Shade Application: Once the base colour is corrected, we apply a premium Keune Semi or Permanent Colour to achieve your target shade—creating rich brunettes, soft coppers, or clean blondes.

6

Step 6

Keune Deep Conditioning & Bond Savior Service: We apply Bond Fusion Phase 2 at the basin to seal the cuticle, lock in moisture, and leave your hair feeling soft, shiny, and strong.

7

Step 7

Signature Cut & Finish: A professional cut to remove dry or damaged split ends, followed by styling to showcase your healthy, revitalized colour.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why does colour correction require a prior consultation?

A: Every hair correction is unique. We must test your hair's strength, elasticity, and how it responds to colour lifters. A consultation allows us to perform a strand test, calculate an accurate price, and set realistic expectations for what can be achieved in a single session.

Q: How much does a Colour Correction service cost?

A: Because of the unique complexity of correcting hair colour, pricing is determined individually during your consultation. It depends on the number of steps required, the product used, and the total time. Our colour consultations are £20.00, which is deducted from your final booking fee.

Q: Can you fix green or orange hair after a home bleaching attempt?

A: Yes! Orange hair occurs when hair isn't lifted enough, leaving warm raw pigments. Green hair usually occurs when ash blonde dye is applied over yellow hair without a warm filler. We use colour theory to counteract these tones and restore a beautiful, natural shade.

Q: How many sessions will it take to correct my hair?

A: Many minor corrections can be resolved in a single 4 to 5-hour session. However, extreme transformations (like shifting from years of black box dye to clean blonde) may require 2 to 3 sessions spread over several weeks to protect your hair's health.

Q: What is the risk of hair breakage during colour correction?

A: We never compromise hair health. Louise Wilson uses her extensive educator background to assess hair strength first. If a strand test indicates your hair is too fragile, we will recommend a conditioning and protein treatment plan (such as Keune Bond Fusion) to strengthen it before colouring.

Q: Who will perform my Colour Correction service?

A: Our Salon Director, Louise Wilson, is our primary expert for all complex colour corrections. Louise has over 25 years of industry experience and is a former colour educator, making her one of Glasgow's leading authorities on colour rescue.

Q: Do I need a patch test before my appointment?

A: Yes. A colour patch test must be carried out at least 48 hours before any chemical application. This is a quick 2-minute skin test at our High Street salon to ensure you have no allergic reaction to our professional Keune colour range.
