For hijab-wearing Muslim women, a visit to the hairdresser is not always a simple task. Many standard hair salons feature open-plan layouts, street-facing windows, and male staff or clients, making it impossible to uncover and receive professional hair services in comfort and dignity.

At Hair In The City Glasgow, we believe that everyone has a right to a premium, comfortable, and respectful hairdressing experience. That is why we offer a fully enclosed, private styling room at our High Street salon, designed to provide 100% visual privacy and a secure, female-only environment.

Our Modesty & Privacy Guidelines

We have established strict operational protocols to guarantee your peace of mind from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave:

• Complete Enclosure: The private room features solid walls and a closed door, ensuring no window views or main-floor visibility.

• Visual Screens: Before your arrival, we set up visual screens if needed to block any line of sight from the main salon floor when the door is opened.

• Strict Access Control: We place a clear "Privacy in Progress" sign on the closed door, enforcing a strict rule that no male staff or clients may enter or approach the room.

• Female-Only Styling: Your entire service is handled by one of our professional female stylists (Louise, Shelby, Erin, or Katie). No male staff members are permitted in the room at any point.

• Private Wash Basins Screen: For your hair wash and conditioning, we guide you to the hair wash basins in the salon and place a privacy screen to section it off, keeping you completely shielded from public view and ensuring your modesty is fully respected.

Access to the Full Salon Menu

Booking our private room does not restrict your hair goals. You have access to our entire premium salon menu, including custom balayages, colour melts, precision cuts, and deep conditioning treatments.

After your style is completed, you will have all the time you need to comfortably re-apply your hijab, turban, or wrap in the privacy of the room before exiting.

There is zero surcharge to book our private room. We believe that privacy, dignity, and inclusivity are fundamental rights, which is why services in our private room carry identical pricing to our standard main floor services.
